BREVE: Surrender

This past week I came across a song and short devotional by Jeremy Camp called: Surrender.

The full lyrics to the song are as follows:

Purify this tainted soul
I'm tired of living life a fool
Soften up this hardened clay
To be a servant, this I pray
A reflection of You, I long to be
So Your kingdom I will seek

I surrender to Your throne
Oh, I surrender to Your throne
I will make my heart Your home
Oh, I surrender to Your throne

I've taken things I thought my own
Only to reap what I've sown
You've given back the years I fought
Unending love and grace You've brought
Eternal hope and peace You bring
And forever unto You I will sing

I surrender to Your throne
Oh, I surrender to Your throne
And I will make my heart Your home
Oh, I surrender to Your throne

Forever unto You I will sing
Forever unto You I will sing
Forever unto You I will sing
Forever unto You I will sing

I surrender
I surrender
I surrender, now
Oh, I surrender
And I surrender
And I surrender, now
Oh, I surrender
I surrender
I surrender
Oh, I surrender
I surrender
I surrender, now

May we find ourselves in a place of SURRENDER!!

FULL BODIED: Blessed Are They Which Do Hunger and Thirst For Righteousness

Blessed [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matt. 5:6

In this weeks corporate worship service we looked at those that hunger and thirst after righteousness. According James righteous acts  include works of charity as well as avoiding sins against the law of Moses. (James 2:15,16 and 2:11,12)

Mirriam-Webster Dictionary defines righteous as:
1 : acting in accord with divine or moral law : free from guilt or sin
2 a : morally right or justifiable  b : arising from an outraged sense of justice or morality

I want to be someone that hungers and thirst after righteousness!! This righteousness comes from the inside out and is not just displayed through doing good works. It is a state of the heart and from that over-flow, righteousness is a by-product.
One of the songs that we sang really penetrated my soul! It is called "From the Inside Out".

A thousand times I've failed

Still your mercy remains

And should I stumble again
Still I'm caught in your grace

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
my heart and my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Your will above all else, my purpose remains
The art of losing myself in bringing you praise

Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control
Consume me from the inside out Lord
Let justice and praise become my embrace
To love You from the inside out

Chorus 2x
Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades
Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame
And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise
From the inside out Lord, my soul cries out

SKINNY: Surprise

This week went well in my journey towards physical health . . . but I still had my doubts that it was good enough to accomplish my goal from last week, which was to lose 3 lbs. So . . . when I got on the scales this morning and looked down, much to my surprise, I had met my goal!!! Whoot, whoot!!
This means I am staying on track!! My total weight loss is now at 8 lbs!! In 6 lbs I will break a barrier that I haven't seen in two years!! So far the little changes that I have made in my life do not make me feel that I am on a diet. It also means that when I hit a "wall", which most people do at some point, I will be able to kick it into another gear and break through that barrier. To me . . . that is EXCITING!!! It makes this whole journey seem doable!!
This weeks goal is to average 7,500 steps a day and to loose 2 lbs!
